WebShare Server (SDK) description

WebShare Server (SDK) allows other apps to export HTML and Java WebStart applications through an embedded web server. The web server handles WebStart JNLP files appropriately and delivers the JNLP or HTML resources to desktop PCs or other computers with Java7 installed.
The WebShare Server (SDK) has a very simple API that allows to export internal resources from the res/raw resources as web resources. An exported WebStart application can then contact the Android device directly and call a service URL that is transmitted inside the dynamically generated JNLP file. The option to perform web service calls through the WebShare Server will be added in the next release. An app will then not have to open its own server socket, but can wake up on an Android-native request to respond to the external service request, made by its own WebStart counterpart. All apps using WebShare can use the same well-known web server port, which is convenient for the user, because it can be bookmarked and is invariant. The SDK is included in the hidden /SDK/ folder and offers source code, binary code and a developer handbook.
The upcoming release will also allow encrypted multicast communication in workgroups and web services that are only available within user-defined workgroups of Android devices and PCs.
WebStart® and Java® are protected trademarks of Oracle Corporation.
